Bergmanis Preyra LLP, has a long history of community involvement locally, nationally, and internationally.
We believe that as lawyers and members of our community, we have an obligation to extend a helping hand to individuals and organizations in need. As such, Bergmanis Preyra has and continues to be a strong supporter of local schools, charities, scouts groups, individuals and others who reach out to us for help, both through pro bono activities and charitable sponsorships.
In this electronic age it is more important than ever for children to have access to safe and well run programs which allow them to have fun, be active and socialize with their peers. Since our inception Bergmanis Preyra has sponsored numerous minor hockey teams in the GTA. Additionally we are proud sponsors of Toronto Plays and Right to Play, both of which are volunteer organizations that use the transformative power of sport to educate and empower children facing adversity.
For several years we have worked with the Sick Kids Foundation and the Hospital for Sick Children as proud sponsors of Cardiac Kids, a volunteer organization which raises funds to provide support for children living with congenital heart disease. We have also been loyal supporters of Toronto Rehabilitation, which helps people to overcome the challenges of living with disabling illness, the Etobicoke General Hospital and the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton.
We have participated in The Ride to Conquer Cancer, a two-day, 200-kilometre cycling event from Toronto to Niagara Falls in support of The Princess Margaret Hospital and through Save the Children and Me2We we have raised funds, provided sponsorships and flown to Kenya to meet and better understand the Maasai people and to build much needed schools in that impoverished country.
In addition to our other activities we have been proud to have recently established the Bergmanis Preyra rink at the Scotiabank Pond, a state of the art multi rink arena in Downsview, Ontario and to have established the Community Safe Streets Program, which works with local businesses to promote bicycle safety in order to reduce accidents and serious injury in the GTA.
